On 26th June 2005, Joan McNevin and Paddy Pender set off from the Capuchin Friary in Kilkenny and walked to the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People in Bow Street, arriving on 1st July 2005 - total of 80 miles.

The aim of the walk was to raise awareness of the issue homelessness by walking from town to town and trusting the kindness of those they met to respond to their need for sustenance and shelter.

'…for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…' (Mt 25:35)

People offered their support to Joan and Paddy by walking a while with them, by encouraging them with a wave, a smile, by getting them something to drink and/or eat, by offering a place to stay and lots more.
