H1N1 SWINE FLU ADVICE
There have now been a significant number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Ireland and in June the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared a global flu pandemic. The Diocese is monitoring latest advice from the HSE and will provide any updated information on the Diocesan website www.dublindiocese.ie. The number of cases seems to be increasing and it is therefore important to take preventative steps to reduce the risk of contracting the virus. Respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette are key measures everyone should use at all times to prevent the transmission of respiratory infections. If you develop influenza-like symptoms you should: Stay at home to avoid spreading infection to others and remain off work for at least 7 days or until the symptoms have subsided. Contact your GP/ Family doctor by phone to explain the situation or phone the HSE Information Line 1850 241 850 (8am -8pm Mon -Sat) or call the HSE Flu Information Line (recorded information ) Free Phone 1800 94 11 00.
SENIOR HELP LINE
The lines are open each day from 10am to 4pm, each evening from 7pm to 10pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
An independent evaluation in 2004 found that Senior Help Line is making a valuable contribution to the health and well-being of both callers and volunteers.
