St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street

This was a parish church following the closure of St. Paul’s Arran Quay. Up to December 1998, this was a friary church attached to the Capuchin Franciscan Friary in Church Street. The church was recently decorated and restored. The shrines include a shrine to St. Anthony (there is a perpetual Novena to St. Anthony held each Tuesday evening) and to Saint Pio. There are also a side altars to St. Francis and to the Blessed Virgin. The church returned to being a Friary Church in Spring 2007.

The church is tastefully decorated with paintings of Franciscan saints behind the altar and above each of the columns in the church, gargoyles of Franciscan saints offer encouragement. The main theme of the church is Franciscan and this runs through the carvings on the lectern and altar with images of St. Francis and St. Clare.
